In Any Given Moment
You Are Free to Choose
How to Be Present
So, It's On You
I Choose To Accept The Face In The Mirror
That old woman staring back, her face wrinkled and haggard.
I now accept, after decades of life's struggles, she's earnt every single line on her face.
And still she smiles.
And as she smiles, I notice how the saggy bits are lifted, how the wrinkles are ironed out as I see who she really is. She's a survivor.
Yes! Have you found that who we think we are gets a bit lost as we age?
Perhaps this is you too: I forget all the hats I've worn throughout the many decades of my life and lose sight of the value I bring to the world.
I've even found myself thinking I don't deserve to live a better life and to just be grateful to still be breathing.
Aging is a privilege ... I'm reminded.
Even so, living an extended lifetime without feeling good about that life extension is not the way I want to live because in the tedium of everyday I find it easy to fall into the victimhood trap.
Then my attention turns to all the mistakes I've made, all the things I should've done better (and over the decades there's been a few) so I plummet far down past feeling sad to feeling very bad about who I am.
Clearly, I don't deserve to live a better life.
But this is never true.
NEVER!
